Correct. 2 married pairs and 4 of the singles had a shunt on the controlstand which allowed the operatorto change wiring such that they could run faster. I was on a CERA fantrip when George Krambles (CERA member #1 and a CTA official)took over from the assigned motorman, punched the button and we speeded up. Until BART opened, CTA had the US rapid transit speed record for a test run at 76.x mph. |
