Posted by kp5308 on Sat Mar 6 22:33:12 2021 Karen & I managed to get in on a sold out Reading & Northern trip from Reading to Tamaqua & return due to a last minute cancellation. It is called "Ride and Dine" and is IMMENSELY popular. The trip is usually the last Saturday of the month and the 2 RDCs sell out well in advance. We leave North Reading around 4:  The ghost of the Pennsy Schuylkill Valley Branch (now a very popular trail) at Kernsville:  No stop at Port Clinton:   Pass the Christmas tree farms of New Ringgold and the the South Tamaqua yard:   Arrival at Tamaqua is at 5:15PM. Next up is a 3 block guided walk to an Italian restaurant for an excellent dinner. The train seats about 130 and the staff at La Dolce Casa takes care of business graciously and efficiently:   Departure is a 7PM, giving us time to do some night shots after we finish dinner & dessert:     Arrival back at North Reading is at 8:15PM, perfect for a unique date night. Thanks to Rich for a smooth ride & also to Matt to letting us on at the last minute. CASH TALKS!:   Barring anything unforeseen a 3 car RDC set will begin making weekend trips to Jim Thorpe starting in May. LINK TO SCHEDULE |
