Great photos of a New York City subway car that I never rode at all. They were all gone one year before I was born.

However, looking at some research and documentation, the BMT Bluebird was supposed to have this fancy modern air cooling filtration system installed and used in the cars themselves.

Upon noticing this image from the collection of nycsubway.org, as well as a color snapshot in the latest New York City Subways Calendar, I spotted in each photo an interior view with R-10 style fans later placed inside there.

OK, for those that are knowledgeable about this model of subway car, what necessitate them to have this additional feature (i.e. the fans) put there during their service life. By the way, thanks for posting and sharing these vintage images here.
