The first segment of the Market Street subway-elevated line opens. It runs between 69th Street in Upper Darby and 15th Street in Center City, Philadelphia.

Omaha, Nebraska
Omaha & Council Bluffs Street Railway

Streetcar service in Omaha, Nebraska comes to an end when the last two lines, North 45th Street and Dundee are converted to bus operation. Car 1011 made the official last trip.

There was a derailment on the Flushing Line south of Vernon-Jackson Avenues station at about 5:40 AM. The train consisted of eleven R-62A’s; (s) 2150, 2146, 2149, 2153, 2154, 2148, 1701-1702-1793-1704-1705. Cars 2149, 2153 and 2154 left the rails. Service was restored by the PM rush.
