Reportedly, a Utica extension all the way to Floyd Bennett Field was explored, but I don't think a route that far south ever made it past the proposal stage. It would be interesting to see if any surveys or drawings of such an alignment were ever made. Had this been built, it would have made Floyd Bennett a viable commercial airport, perhaps as an adjunct to (then) Idlewild, or as an executive airport like Teterboro. |
