Tuscarora Almanac – February 23, 1947 – The Book of First Runs
Great Northern Railway
Chicago, Burlington & Quincy Railroad
A new streamlined passenger train called the “Empire Builder” begins service between Chicago, Illinois and Seattle, Washington. The train will make the 2200 mile trip in forty five hours. It will operate over the Burlington Route between Chicago and St. Paul, Minnesota and over the Great Northern Railway to Seattle.
