Think about it: a Jamaica-LIRR - Chambers Street route would be a lose-lose situation for both BRT and LIRR as private companies.

BRT would lose its Jamaica-bound business to a faster LIRR Atlantic Av route east of Chestnut Street.

LIRR would lose lower Manhattan-bound business west of Chestnut Street to BRT one-seat ride to Chambers Street.
