Before Covid it was very easy. Hopefully things will get back to normal. I always advised people to first register with Central Casting, an 80 yr old company that even cast the Munchkins in the Wizard of Oz. One is technically employed by them even though they don't turn down anyone. It is free, however since the pandemic they haven't done registrations. Then the best way to get jobs is to subscribe to Casting Networks. I pay about $150 a year and in normal times before March I'd get about 30-40 email listings for my age range a day. Since Casting Networks has all your pictures and info all you have to do is click submit. When they give an age range it's basically what you can portray, not your actual age. I personally averaged about 1 or 2 jobs a week and the average pay was about $180. They also feed you with a buffet lunch (before covid) and snacks & coffee all day. This particular subway job at Church Av I got $207 ($15/hour + time and a half OT or $22.50 an hour) Union members (Screen Actors Guild) get more. It's very hard and expensive to get into the SAG but since production companies would rather pay the $15 so it's actually easier to get a job as non-union. I've actually known SAG members to lie and say they were non-union to get a job even though SAG prohibits members from doing so!!
