The last home that my grandparents owned was 1/2 block from the Newlots Av station (well 2 blocks to the entrance at Ashford & Livonia, their house was on Jerome St). My parents and I were living with them when we moved there in late 1962. My parents bought their own home in lower Crown heights in July 1964. My grandparents lived there until their respective deaths, in 1965 and 1976.Google Street view of the Livonia el from in front of the house Livonia substation. That exact same sign was there back in the day (1970s). Wonder if the kids today ignore it like we did 😂 |
