AFAIK, E New York is the name of the neighborhood. Although the name of the station was “Broadway East NY” the destination signs read “Fulton- East NY” a reference to the station being on the IND Fulton St Line. The Euclid and Lefferts readings were also preceded by the name “Fulton” even though neither station is actually on Fulton St simply to indicate the name of the line that the trains travel on.
