It had been dying slowly since South Jamaica declined in the late 1960's. Removing the Jamaica el had nothing to do with it. In fact, it probably stopped the long time shoppers by eliminating the stops at Sutphin Blvd, Parsons Blvd, and 168 St with its shortened re-route under Archer Ave. Not to mention the premature demolition!
