The towns of Fort Lee and Palisades Park wanted the amusement park gone. Not only did they have to deal with the George Washington Bridge traffic, but also to/from the PAP. As more and more people from NYC were bused in, fewer people from Bergen County (where I live) visited it. The end really came in 1967, when both towns rezoned the property for future highrise buildings.. The first Horizon House, built in 1965, may have prompted their actions. |
