Those cars were SMEEs which was pretty much state of the art brake equipment for rapid transit cars of the day. All air electric rapid transit cars of the period were SMEE except that while Boston, Philly and Cleveland equipped their cars with WABCO Cineston controllers which combined braking and propulsion control in a single handle, NYCTA, H&M and later PATH opted for a separate propulsion controller and brake valve. |
