Bombardier agreed to add 18 cars to the order for failing to meet delivery goals in lieu of a cash penalty,

Bombardier will make up its lapses to the MTA by delivering 18 additional R179 cars at no cost to the MTA. Those 18 cars are worth around $36 million, which Byford said offsets the MTA’s expense keeping the ancient R32s in good repair.
