| Posted by Express Rider on Sun May 31 23:29:46 2020, in response to Re: BMT Canarsie Line history question., posted by Steve B-8AVEXP on Sat May 30 09:47:34 2020.At the time my mom/Dad showed me the RFW, I was probably somewhere around five going on six years old, or just six - we didn't live close, close, to the subway* (like around the corner or downt the block from a station/entrance), so though I have early vague memories of being on the subway, maybe before 5 even, I certainly didn't know enough to realize that there was an RFW.... but like everyone else, once I found out about it, that where my family always rode - in that first car. * Bell Park Manor Terrace, at the corner of Hillside and Springfield was a longish bus ride from 179th for a six year old - so didn't live in a neighborhood within walking distance to a subway station - underground or elevated. We'd take the bus that stopped on Hillside by where we lived to 179th st. |
