Even with the C types, the BMT did a much better job converting gate cars than the IRT. While the BMT moved the M/Ms’ cabs forward into the now enclosed platforms and cut completely new door openings in the sides of the cars, the IRT simply placed sliding doors at the enclosed platforms and didn’t even move the M/Ms’ cabs onto the platforms like the Hi-Vs and Lo-Vs but left the cabs in their original places so that the M/M had to look through the front platform. |
