My perception when inschoolwas that they moved too slowly through time. I will say we had a "problems of democracy" elective at my HS which did deal with then current issues--I did a paper on the Bay of Pigs 3 weeks after it occurred.In US history, we did cover the long haul short haul tariff abuses which were part of the fights leading to the formation of the ICC and the various state analogs. We did not cover the National City Lines history although my senior year was when DC Transit ended streetcar service. |
