I didn't hear about the accident when it happened (I was 11 and didn't watch TV news or read newspapers much, I was busy with my new obsession, the World Champion New York Mets) :) I read about it in the excellent book, Uptown Downtown. In it, it is mentioned that while most of the geese got off at Woodhaven, one person stayed on who was headed for Roosevelt, figuring that the train would have to stop there anyway. Which it did, and the pax alighted there. Don't think that had any bearing on the crash though. |
