The photo was not in North Dakota, it was published in Progressive Railroading. What I found interesting was they Yellow sign warning that trains would pass at over 80 mph.

Closer to home, I was down by the tracks where a sign for a side track that made the crossing next to the maine lion informing the crew to wait 26 seconds before proceeding past the sign. Sure give time for the gates to go down. but 26 seconds. Why not 30 seconds?

79 mph... 26 seconds... Railroads like weird numbers.
