So, demolition of the Bergen Ave. connection would have begun in late 1950, or sometime in 1951?And just above the 149th & 3rd ave station there was that abandoned tower at the junction, unused for so many years, since between 1950 and the structure's demolition*. Simple as its model board may have been, it would have been interesting to see it - probably dated from the WW1 era, when the connection was built as part of the Dual Contracts. *would have been used to signal/control any non-revenue moves (?) between the IRT Wht. Plains Rd. line and the 3rd ave el between 1946-1950 correct? |
