Had the GOP not rammed through the tax giveaway which is now accelerating the deficit, there would be plenty of federal revenue available to upgrade/improve transit, intercity rail etc. We allknow that the Hudson and Baltimore tunnels are in dire need of replacement/general overhaul. And let us not forget the massive waste at the five sided money pit in northern VA. Half a dozen of the totally unnecessary F35s would pay for both the Hudsonand Baltimore tunnels. Money pi$$ed away on more nukes (we still have enough to obliterate all mankind 3-4 times) would easily pay for a couple of useful HSR projects--LA--LV, Milw--Stl, CLE-PGH as examples.This budget is like a family, having given away all of their savings/IRAs etc, now wants 3 new yachts, two ski resort condo's while the actual house needs a new roof, upgraded electrical, HVAC, not to mention weatherizing and solar. |
