Well, I'm an "overzealous" 68-year-old fan of the Brightliners, and I'm happy to be considered among the "young ppl". I remember those glory days on the Q Brighton Express, how they were outstanding with their glistening stainless appearance, blue doors, blue number plates light blue seats, yellow lettering. Even the Budd company logo on the manufacturer plates. I wish a married pair had been kept in the original appearance. The GOH gave them air-conditioning but ruined their appearance and atmosphere. The Brightliners were built to last the rigors of New York, and have proven it. But I'll let the professionals decide when it's time for them to go. I hope some will be saved by the Transit Museum and at least a dozen all tolled by the various museums. To last 50+ years in New York is a rare accomplishment. |
