Where are the billions to even think of starting the service?Legitimate question, but NYS always seems to "find" money. Where are the crew qualifications, even test runs of their allegedly-NYP-capable M8s? A fair number of employees were qualified but even if not, that's not something to worry about until a year before opening. As for as the M8s, they've already tested the M8 3rd rail shoes on random LIRR M7s, So all they would need to test is the signalling capability. You'll see ACS-64s in Rensselaer before you see Metro-North anywhere near NYP. While I'd love for that to be the case, I'm pretty sure I'll see Metro-North in NYP within the 2020s, and catenary in Albany maybe in the 2050s. |
