I am both sad and pissed off at the same time. Byford was THE best president NYCT ever had. King Cuomo's second guessing drove him out in October (first stone thrown with the L project), Byford constantly getting good press, and Byford's profile on 60 minutes made "Train Daddy" a rock star which was damaging to the king's ego.In NY Byford had more layers of bosses than he would have in any other city. Great leaders don't need that. Finally with the MTA reorganization plan, which hires 3 more 6 figure bosses and relegates the agency presidents to being in charge of day to day operations only, is not the job Byford signed up for. I wish Andy nothing but the best in the future. |
