Since the R-46s have couplers more compatible with the NTTs, and electronic side signs it would make more sense to keep them longer. Who would have thought a few years ago the the R-32s and 42s would outlast the R-42s and that it looks like the R-32s will outlast the R-42s. In any case, if the NTTs are right now being moved off the N and Q and being moved to Queens lines in prep for CBTC, the logical lines for the displaced R-46 would be the N/W and the B lines where their electronic signs would be most useful so that signs can be changed quickly. |
