The Gimbels Passageway always had a distinct "basement" feel to it (which most of the subway did not and does not). I think I passed through it about a dozen times. In the middle there was a door that looked like it might be an entrance to the Gimbels store, but it was marked as an emergency exit only, or maybe Authorized Personnel only. |
