Going back to the 1960s (maybe more recently), during middays on the 42nd St Shuttle when only two trains were operating on tracks 1 and 4, the train on track 3 was parked in Grand Central, and the doors in the second and third cars were left open on both sides for use as a bridge between the two platforms. |
