Re: Penn Station south-only in Cuomo's mind

Having 2 locos was never an excuse for LIRR electrifying to Port Jeff, Speonk, or Oyster Bay, or MN to Poughkeepsie.

I thought the LIRR only uses a single locomotive for nearly all its diesel trains, but maybe I am wrong.

However, I know 100% for sure that most if not all Pgh trains use only a single locomotive, located at the north end of the train. Inbound, the engineer operates the train from a cab car.

Why would the 4th track on the Hudson Line need to be electrified? There are at most a few occasions on which an express electric train passes a local electric train, and they all occur during rush hour in the rush hour direction.

Whatever number of locomotives MNRR chooses to buy, they would need a whole bunch more to provide 15 minute service to Penn, even if it just runs from Yonkers.

Remember, all I asked was why you were sure they would not electrify. I don't deny that 15 minute rush hour service from Yonkers, using locomotives at both ends, is feasible.
