Mr. Cuomo often says that La Guardia is the only major airport on the East Coast without a rail link.Huh? Washington Dulles (for now) and Boston Logan don't have one either (putting a bus line on a subway map doesn't magically make it a rail line). In any case AOC is late to the party. People have talked about extending the N for years, and every shitty two cent politician along the way grandstands and grinds the whole thing to a halt. It really is, this or nothing. For all his flaws Cuomo seems to have a knack for seeing a goal (LIRR main line 3rd track, finally opening NYP west end concourse, Replacing Tappan Zee, this Airtrain) and coming up with the imperfect solution that steamrolls the obstacles in order to get something built. Ideally the imperfections get ironed out later (hopefully fix bail reform, rail on the Tappan Zee, NYS tier 6, and Mineola station/interlocking). |
