The mobile payment system up here for CDTA is one of those scan a code ones - the app creates a 2d barcode that needs to be placed onto a scanner on the farebox (and it takes 2 seconds to scan). It's quite annoying.I also find NJT's scan a code thing annoying at their turnstiles. The best solution, the system used by the vast majority of commuter rail outside North America which uses turnstile/tap systems that can easily have NFC overlaid on them, would be very costly to implement here. |
