You can have a debit card attached to a checking account, but if you keep a low balance, there are often monthly fees. People don’t realize that it’s expensive to be poor.That having been said, the problem isn’t that the transit agency should cater to people who can’t afford credit/debit cards, but banking should be subsidized for the poor. But that’s another topic. Of course, I also think that there’s merit to being able to use cash to buy things. We are already over-tracked. |
