Posted by kp5308 on Mon Dec 2 21:01:24 2019 Project 113 had the CNJ 0-6-0 out for 3 trips on Saturday & Sunday. Round trips were run from Minersville PA to Schuylkill Haven using the train set from the Lehigh Gorge Scenic plus 2 additional Reading & Northern coaches. I shot the 10:30AM trip with a red GP39RN leading westbound:The Alco switcher puts on a fine show leading on the uphill return trip: Ate lunch then by prior arrangement shot the 1PM Reading and Northern Santa train behind 4-6-2 #425 from the PA Route 61 overpass near Port Clinton. This view was made famous by countless shots of Reading Company T1 4-8-4 led Iron Horse Rambles back in the 60s. It is a dangerous place to shoot from today: A green GP30 rebuild leads the return to North Reading. The new signals to the NS at CP BELT have been cut in for about 3 months: New to the RBMN Christmas trains is the ex-Milwaukee Road Super Dome. Karen & I wanted to ride so I picked up two tickets for the Sunday 1PM trip. The 4 has new electricals, more powerful air conditioning & fresh paint: The weather was terrible but none of us cared: The generator car is between the 425 & the dome car so even in good weather it would be tough to shoot. This was the best I could do: But at $25 I thought it was well worth it :o) |
