According to nycsubway.org, #103's axiflow fans were installed in 1947, the same year that #1575 was introduced with its redone body design and those bracket fans. Imagine that, and that would give way to the R-15 contract that was ordered in that same year of 1947.On a semi-related note, Pittsburgh Railway would order 100 PCC-type cars in the 1700-series with those type of large fans too, as they were built 1948-1949 from Saint Louis Company. -William A.
