Unfortunately, many professional drivers (or their bosses) continue to "cheap out" and rely on regular rather than truck GPS. The ability to program in height, and route accordingly is a hugely important feature that would prevent many hits. It's the kind of thing we shouldn't have to mandate, but at some point probably will. Of course, like any other safety feature, people actually have to pay attention to it for it to have any worth. Coming out of the dry cleaners a few months ago, I watched a woman back out of her spot int anther car. She got out and said "I am so sorry, my car started making this annoying beeping sound and it distracted me" As Judge Judy might say "you can't fix stupid" |
