The RR Museum in Strasburg let a Pennsy MP54 rot away and ooze asbestos until they finally cut it up 10 or 15 years ago.LIRR had an arch roof MP54 used for de-icing until the 1980's. They eventually offered it to one of the LI RR museum entities, but they refused it because there was a gash in its side oozing asbestos. With the scrapping of the 4900 in Watermill about 10 years ago, the LIRR arch roof MP54 is now extinct. |
