It seems that the TA was afraid of anything articulated which is why they got rid of the Multis first. from what I have read, by 1950, articulation fell out of favor with transit properties which explains why when CTA place an order for a fleet of PCC rapid transit cars, it opted for married pairs rather than more articulated units like the original 4. |
