Posted by Bill Newkirk on Sun Sep 22 14:18:04 2019 Some ALCO power back in December 1967 ALCO FA unit leads an Oyster Bay train to Mineola. This paint scheme was a delight on Kodachrome film ! (February 1980) Eastbound Huntington train in the M-1 days. No M-3's yet. M-1's ruled the electric territories.(July 1980) Photographed from the old Mineola Blvd. bridge, freshly outshopped M-1's enroute to Huntington. Sadly, Nassau tower will be a casualty in the third track project. (February 1982) Here's what the original Mineola Blvd.bridge look like before being rebuilt. Not only is Nassau tower a casualty in the third track project, also the long disused substation building. (March 1982) Oyster Bay train on the approach to Mineola. Shine on the push-pull coach suggests a recent repainting. (February 1982) A fantrip using Metro North Bombardier coaches visits the "Island" for an excursion way out east. (June 10, 1989) A double headed FL-9 does the honors in unfamiliar territory. Is this the first time FL-9's were used on the LIRR before hauling the C-1 "bitanics" ? (June 10, 1989) A night time view from the roof of the same parking garage. Get your last shots of Nassau tower and the substation building. (July 1989) Finishing of the photo essay are M-7's going up the Oyster Bay branch to relay at East Williston (end of third rail). It seems some track work is terminating eastbound service at Mineola. (June 2007) Thanks for viewing and thanks in advance |
