You curse his memory because of misapprehended facts?No part of the Lomex would have passed through the Village. It passed almost entirely (but admittedly not totally) through then unpopulated industrial areas. Soho is nice now but wasn't back then. Meanwhile, thanks to Jacobs, not only do the people have to deal with heavy trucks and congestion at street level, the West Village that she wrote about no longer exists because of unbridled gentrification. |
