That is why there are websites like NYC Subway.Org, the Transit Museum, LIRR Railroad website, among several others to tell and show the history of the subways, the local railroads and other features.I really doubt the MTA would have keep up the older elevated transit lines just so the rail-fans could see how it was done in the past, no matter how much rail-fans would have wanted those lines preserved. In a way it is similar with other features and architecture. Plenty of photographs have to be taken, or else the structures are gone or changed in major ways. Ask any of the kids today if they can find the Pan-AM Building . . . Mike |
