Well, if there's no curve ahead then there's no real need to brake it to 27mph or whatever, that's a massive waste of energy. It's welded rail, the trains can't go fast enough to rattle themselves off the track.Where there is a curve ahead, the timers are still set too slow. 1/2 the derailment speed results in 1/4 the derailment force, so there's 4x headroom for what-if. 4:a safety margin is plenty. |
