If they really mean business, they'll gradually straighten out kinks in the lines. That is, where a sharp slowdown followed by some straight distance to the next station exists, eliminate or change the obstruction. That's obviously not practical where the problem is a sharp curve in the tunnel eg Park Place, but is possible with varying degrees of effort elsewhere. The A train seems to have several crawl-then-go hits between Rockaway and JFK. |
