Yes, downtown Brooklyn. But like other older department stores (like S. Klein on the Square, and even Macy's, A&S was cobbled together from a number of buildings. The oldest unit was east of the newer main store, which had the big banks of modern (for then) elevators.The smaller "original" store was the one with the cage elevators. |
