Work on the 6th Ave subway did not begin until 1936, some four years later. With the Depression, nothing was known, for sure. In late 1932, lack of funding had stopped construction on the Fulton St subway from Lewis Ave to Rockaway Ave for almost a year. As a consequence, the opening of the IND Fulton Line to Rockaway Ave had to be postphoned from 1935 to 1936. |
