There were a few rail boards that everyone dispersed to. But the strength of the community seemed to have always been this sort of direct response layout, whereas the others were the list type message boards, where each message displays below the prior, regardless of who you are responding to. Conversation is much easier in this format, as you can respond to everyone as a whole, or individually, and directly.We all reluctantly went to the alternate sites (most of which were up and running prior to the SubTalk shut down at the time anyway. When it was discovered that a duplicate to SubChat opened, it didn't take long for it to take off and fully replace SubTalk. What also made SubChat superior to SubTalk was the use of an off topic board. Off Topic was always an issue on the old board, and this way people can discus rail topics and avoid off topic completely, or engage in other conversation, without annoying the primary board. Off topic was inevitable, so it was genius. |
