He was a locomotive engineer on a Ridgewood train coming from the BERR terminal beside the Brooklyn Bridge. He took the curve at Navy Street onto the Myrtle. A superintendent was opening the door of the tower just as Hylan rounded the (sharp) curve and was knocked down. When Hylan arrived at Ridgewood he was summarily fired.I do not disagree with this as the truth of this is well documented. Thanks, however, for clarifying that the "law book" story was fake because that does sound made up. |
