Berger Tuscarora Almanac - August 11, 1958 - The Book of Wrecks Sloatsburg, New York Erie Railroad There was a head on collision between two passenger trains on the Mainline of the Erie Railroad near Sloatsburg, New York. Westbound train No.53 (Hoboken to Port Jervis) headed up by EMD GP-7 1402 collided with eastbound No. 50 (Monroe to Hoboken) under the control of Alco PA-1 859.
