My early experiences of this were ginger ale at age 11 on the B(est) & O(nly). In the early 50s the all coach Columbian between DC and Chicago had a round end obs bar lounge and a dome coach as well as an excellent diner.I am looking at a trip from Chicago in Sept which is scheduled into LA at 5:35 AM. In a more rider oriented era sleeping car pax would be allowed to remainon board until a more civil hour--not Amtrak today. |
