I can't help with Acela class questions because I find even commuter rail seating to be super luxurious :-)

But an unrelated opinion: I've done WAS to NYP many times both Acela and on non-Acela. IMHO Acela (no matter what the class) is not worth it. It's 3 hours vs 3.5 hours.

Anecdotally - Acela schedule adherence seemed better than average. I only rode it a few times so cannot provide a broad statistical base.
