Henry Hudson sailed the Hudson River in the late 1500s. He was looing for a route to China.He was the one who opened the way to the Dutch settlement of New Amsterdam. These people called the big river "The North River" and the smaller channel "The East River". Hudson then went further north to find his passage to China, which he still did not find. Later, Perhaps when the English took over the colony the renamed the river "Hudson" ROAR |
