This will never happen... Yes, if you are reading from your transportation best practices textbook, then we should string overhead wire from Manhattan to Montauk for the sake of regional consistency and interoperability.But with the current state of affairs, it makes no sense at all to go a completely different route than what's already established on large parts of the network... They would need to buy all new equipment and it wouldn't be interoperable with the existing fleet. They would need to maintain two distinct systems and related infrastructure. |
